A jury delivered a damage award to a bar patron after being pushed by a nightclub bouncer.

Jeffrey Dinsmore, then 35, alleged he was hurt leaving The Stable bar in Fort Lauderdale after a verbal altercation in January 2011. He said a bouncer suddenly put both hands on his shoulders as he left a restroom and pushed him hard, causing him to hit his head on the floor. Dinsmore, who was later diagnosed at a medical clinic with a concussion, claimed he missed three months of work with post-concussion syndrome. He sued the bar’s owner, Scandals Bar & Lounge LLC, for failure to properly train, supervise or interview. After the company withdrew from the case, the court issued a default judgment, and the jury awarded Dinsmore $39,787 in damages.
