In short order, the U.S. has signed an anticipated agreement with Cuba to resume commercial air traffic for the first time in decades, allowed a U.S. partnership to open a tractor assembly plant in Cuba and permitted a Cuban state-owned company to renew a contentious U.S. trademark for Havana Club rum.

While some in favor of normalizing relations with Cuba have expressed surprise at the speed of the thaw, some attorneys in Miami and Washington are questioning what the U.S. will get in return for loosening the embargo and other moves benefiting Cuba.
