The Miccosukee Indian tribe was added after the fact Friday as a defendant liable for a $3.2 million award in a wrongful death lawsuit.
Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Ronald Dresnick ruled the tribe should be a party because it wrote at least 61 checks to the law firm representing two tribal members sued in the 1998 drunken-driving traffic death.
