It is an allegiance few saw coming: the Tea Party and advocates for solar energy. After all, the Tea Party battles against big government and advocates for cleaner energy resources tend to support big government when it acts to protect the environment.

But the two movements have found common ground on a solar panel, each arguing that residential customers should have unfettered rights to install solar panels owned by third parties to supply part of their demand for electricity.
