In a closely watched decision by those involved in consumer class actions, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Brown v. Electrolux Home Products on March 21 vacated the certification of two statewide classes of consumers by a federal court in the Southern District of Georgia.

The plaintiffs in Electrolux had brought breach of warranty and consumer protection claims, alleging that the rubber seal on the door of the defendant’s washing machines was defective, resulting in the growth of mildew and stained clothing.
