Special funding that allowed Florida courts to tackle foreclosure backlogs will run out at the end of the month, and judges are making plans for what comes next.

In Miami-Dade County, the court staff that screened applications for final hearings on summary judgment will disappear, reducing the oversight of lender filings and increasing the likelihood cases will be delayed. Senior judges who handled foreclosure-only courts also will be let go or reassigned in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
