An employee prevailed in a wage dispute case. Supervisor Ramiro Aguilar claimed his former employer, Miami-based Plantation Spice Growers Nursery Inc., failed to pay him for overtime he performed in 2014. He sued Plantation and its owner, alleging U.S. Fair Labor Standards Act violations.

The defense denied all charges and argued Aguilar was not eligible for minimum wage or overtime because he was an exempt employee. The jury found Aguilar was not entitled to minimum wage and overtime under the FLSA but also found he and his employer had a wage agreement that the employer had breached. The jury awarded Aguilar $15,000.
