A 50-year-old man has won a $1.5 million damage award, following a rear-end accident that left him severely injured. In June 2008, William Sinclair, an attorney, was stopped at a stop sign in Coral Springs, when his vehicle was struck from behind by a vehicle operated by Nidia Roman. Roman conceded negligence, but was uninsured; plaintiff Sinclair initiated an underinsured claim against his own carrier, 21st Century Insurance Co. of Calif. His injuries included disc herniations, radicular pain and drop foot in his left foot, among other complications. The defense argued Sinclair’s injuries were not caused by the accident, but the jury found otherwise, finding negligence on Roman’s part, and plaintiff’s damages totaling $1,496,750.
