A jury rejected a woman’s argument that a dentist’s negligence caused nerve damage during a wisdom tooth removal.
Natalie Popovich, then 43, went to Dr. Silas Daniel, in South Pasadena complaining of pain in all four wisdom teeth. He recommended extraction, which he then performed. Popovich claimed Daniel injured her right inferior alveolar nerve, left lingual nerve and left buccal nerve. She also claimed Daniel failed to obtain her informed consent. Popovich claimed she suffered a permanent loss of sensation on the right side of her lip and chin, and a loss of feeling in her left cheek and left side of her tongue.
