A Fort Myers jury decided a neurosurgeon who allegedly caused nerve damage to a patient during a spinal operation was not negligent.

Dr. Wesley Faunce III of Cape Coral operated on Robyn Church, 40, a beauty salon manager, to remove a cyst and stabilize her spine. Church claimed Faunce improperly placed two surgical screws in her spine, which damaged her nerves. She sued Faunce and his professional association, Sypert Institute P.A., alleging medical malpractice, and sought $1 million.
