Delray Beach agreed to pay $22,000 to a bicyclist who claimed he fractured his right clavicle and ribs when he struck an orange traffic safety cone.

Thomas Volpe, then 45, was riding along State Road A1A when he ran into a safety cone placed in the bike lane. The cone was temporarily being used to warn oncoming motorists and cyclists that a city vehicle was stopped to perform landscape maintenance on trees lining the road. Volpe alleged the city negligently placed the traffic safety cone in the bike lane.
