A jury found that fire-rescue responders weren’t liable for a woman’s death two days after they responded to her Miami home following complaints of severe head pain.

The responders concluded Elisa Chovel, 61, was suffering a migraine headache and recommended she take Advil. Two days later, she was found in her apartment unconscious and covered in blood. She died the following day. The estate’s counsel alleged fire-rescue personnel failed to properly test and treat Chovel, whose symptoms were consistent with a brain aneurysm.
