The parents of a woman who was killed in a multiple-vehicle accident on State Road 710 in Martin County recovered $735,000.
Devon Richbell, 22, was driving a Nissan sedan westbound on the two-lane road. Richbell entered the eastbound lane to pass two tractor-trailers, as did a pickup being driven behind her by Ernst Toussaint. Back in the westbound lane, Richbell was rear-ended by Toussaint, causing her to collide head-on with an eastbound tractor-trailer. The estate claimed Toussaint, the eastbound trucker and one of the westbound tractor-trailer drivers were negligent. Each defendant denied liability.
