A jury awarded $201,900 to a couple who claimed neck and back injuries in a rear-end collision in Miami.
Jessica Guillen, then 25, was driving a 1999 Plymouth sedan on 137th Avenue when her car was struck from behind by a 2002 Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by Kyle Maupin, who conceded negligence. Guillen was diagnosed with disc herniations at C5-6 and L4-L5, a disc bulge at C6-7 and a bulging annulus at L5-S1. Her husband, Javier Guillen, then 30, was diagnosed with a disc herniation at C4-5 and bulging discs at C5-6 and C6-7.
