A jury concluded a restaurant was not liable for a woman’s knee injury after she fell on a ramp.

Yelba Lorenzo, then 57, fell inside Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Kendall and broke her left patella. She claimed she slipped on ice and water. She later had open reduction-internal fixation surgery with a wire configured and two screws installed. She claimed there was no warning of a dangerous condition, and the restaurant failed to ensure the premises were reasonably safe. Several witnesses testified there was no ice or water on the floor, and Lorenzo slipped because she was distracted by her granddaughter walking alongside her.
