A construction contractor who waited about 40 minutes outside an empty courtroom for trial to start will get another chance at a trial after the Fourth District Court of Appeal voided a default judgment entered during his wait.

Bradley Vercosa, Superclean Restoration LLC’s principal, was due to appear before Broward Circuit Judge Dale Ross in October 2011 to answer a complaint alleging the company defrauded homeowner Claudia Fields out of more than $42,000 in insurance reimbursement. He said he arrived 15 minutes early on the day of trial and waited another 25 minutes before learning the hearing had moved to the judge’s chambers.
