As the real estate boom in Miami’s urban core moves forward, private builders are looking to partner with public agencies to improve infrastructure. For that very reason, one person increasingly finding himself on developers’ speed dial list is Miami Parking Authority CEO Arthur Noriega. Noriega’s semi-autonomous agency, which had revenues of nearly $29 million last year and is seeing activity boom in its downtown Miami locations, is responsible for making sure there’s enough parking to satisfy demand in the city of Miami.

Many of the agency’s current initiatives, including a push to increase adoption of the Pay-by-Phone system for metered parking, focus on just that. Yet as Noriega tells the Daily Business Review, a lot of what’s in front of him right now expands on that mission. Noriega’s answers have been edited for clarity.
