A company founded by two Miami real estate lawyers is seeking funding for downtown’s Skyrise project in a gaudy playground for the super-rich.
Shai Zamanian and Preeya Malik founded Step America LLC, which is trying to persuade people in Dubai to invest in Miami through the federal cash-for-visas EB-5 program. The program provides special immigration status to foreigners who inject a certain amount of funds into the U.S. economy. To be accepted, investors must generally put at least $500,000 into projects and prove that at least 10 jobs were created as a result.
