A new boutique hotel is planned for the future Miami Worldcenter site, just east of the massive convention center hotel, the Daily Business Review has learned. The previously unannounced hospitality venture is the first project planned for the second phase of the mixed-use development and is looking to take advantage of an increasingly favorable funding environment and general market momentum to move forward, the developer told the Daily Business Review.

Harvey Hernandez, chairman and managing director of Newgard Development Group, said that after receiving the temporary certificate of occupancy for condo development BrickellHouse and seeing positive reception at downtown loft-style condo Centro, his firm is ready to focus more time on other projects. Among the new ventures: a condo-office redevelopment in downtown Miami, a hotel in Fort Lauderdale and “a very cool lifestyle hotel in Miami Worldcenter.”
