Rodolfo Ishak has been developing towers in Brazil for over 30 years. Earlier this year, his company scooped up a foreclosed lot at 530 NW First Court in Miami’s Overtown, with the goal of new development. The recently unveiled 35-story Krystal tower calls for 153 residences on top of the shell of a stalled project. Ishak is positioning the residential project against the grain of some other recent developments nearby, such as Centro, insisting the building will be a luxury product boasting many large apartments. From his office in Belem, where a poster showing every development he’s ever worked on took up most of the wall behind him, Ishak spoke to the Daily Business Review via video chat. A translator assisted the conversation.

What’s the motivation bringing you to Miami to do this project?
