On the Move Dade Community Foundation names new president

he Dade Community Foundation has named Javier Alberto Soto as president.
He will take over from Ruth Shack, who is retiring after 24 years with the foundation.
Soto, who will start July 1, most recently was senior vice president and general counsel of the Miami division of Dutko Worldwide, a public policy management firm.
Previously, Soto was transition chairman for Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez from 2004-2005 and was chief of staff for former Miami-Dade Mayor Alex Penelas from 2001-2004.
He was also director of intergovernmental affairs and assistant Miami-Dade County attorney and was an associate at Holland & Knight.
The foundation provides grants and supports nonprofit organizations that promote education, arts and culture, economic development and health care.
