A South Florida golf club operator wants sanctions against a Canadian developer who it claims used a high-profile law firm to lie in court about a derailed roughly $6 million land deal for 152 lots in Tamarac.

Woodmont Country Club Inc. claims would-be buyer Zaveco Development LLC, represented by Conrad & Scherer in Fort Lauderdale, committed a fraud on the court when it suggested the seller sabotaged the transaction to clear the way for a more lucrative nearly $15 million deal with a national homebuilder. It alleges Zaveco misrepresented Woodmont’s filings for the second buyer, making it seem like the seller pushed through one deal but neglected to file simple paperwork on Zaveco’s behalf.
