A former newspaper publisher is among four South Florida businessmen charged in a $10 million mortgage fraud.

Marco Laureti, 45, is charged with making false statements to an unnamed real estate lender, then diverting the loan proceeds to other businesses. Prosecutors suggest he used his real estate background to trick the lender into financing deals for plush multimillion-dollar condominiums, but later used the money to prop up several companies and purchase luxury real estate for his personal use.
