The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office agreed to pay its largest-ever wrongful death settlement to the parents of an unarmed teenager fatally shot by a sheriff’s deputy, the family’s lawyers announced Wednesday.
The $1.7 million agreement was reached less than two weeks before trial was set to begin in West Palm Beach federal court. Settlement documents have not yet been filed.
