Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols escaped a $7.5 million libel lawsuit brought by his cousin in federal court in Florida—but the case might come back to life in another jurisdiction.
Pujols and his wife, Deidre, were defendants in the suit by former aspiring baseball player Wilfrido Pujols, who accused the couple of incriminating him in a fatal hit-and-run accident to avoid a potential public relations nightmare.
