Honda and BMW should be required to turn over documents about Takata air bags that failed to deploy, not just air bags that exploded, a special master recommended in the Miami multidistrict litigation over the recalled safety devices.

The automakers were the only two defendants in the case that did not agree to search complaint databases for all “incidents involving airbag ruptures, aggressive deployments, and non-deployments” involving Takata air bags, Special Master John Delionado of Hunton & Williams in Miami wrote in his recommendations Friday.
