A team of South Florida attorneys have won a $13.5 million product liability verdict against R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for the pain and suffering of a smoker who died of cancer.

The Miami-Dade jury on Monday awarded $4.95 million in compensatory damages and $8.5 million in punitive damages to the family of Carole Larkin, a longtime Winston smoker who died of lung cancer in 2000.
