A big-name developer with a history of litigation and foreclosure has pulled off the biggest deal of 2015 so far in South Florida, closing on a coveted Miami development parcel for $64 million.

A company tied to Richard Meruelo scooped up a 7.35-acre site northwest of Northeast Second Avenue and 17th Street in a deal that values the Omni West property at just over $8.7 million per acre.
