The Florida Supreme Court has adopted recommended sanctions Thursday for a Broward circuit judge who faced ethics charges after emailing a public defender with sentencing tips.

The court agreed with the state Judicial Qualifications Commission on a public reprimand and written apology for Judge John Contini, a longtime criminal defense attorney who, on his first day of Judicial College training, wrote Broward Assistant Public Defender Samuel Perlmutter to outline a strategy for getting lower criminal sentences.
