At the height of his career as an offensive lineman in the National Football League, Darryl Ashmore’s 6-foot-7, 310-pound frame charged through opponents over 11 seasons as a professional athlete.
But at 46, his body lumbers under herniated discs, degenerative arthritis and lumbosacral radiculopathy, while a slew of cognitive ailments leave him permanently disabled, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in federal court in West Palm Beach against the NFL Player Disability & Neurocognitive Benefit Plan.
