Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Jorge Labarga is urging his fellow justices to add Florida to the list of about three dozen states with long-term commissions dedicated to access to civil justice.

Labarga’s Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice was supposed to wind down this summer after a year and a half of work on closing the justice gap for low- to moderate-income Floridians. But the lawyers, judges and business leaders on the commission are recommending the state commit to permanently focusing on these issues.
