When it comes to matching Cravath, Swaine & Moore’s base salary bump for associates — which will see first-years earn $180,000 and eighth-years rake in $315,000 — firms with big Florida bases are a mixed bag, with the definition of “top of market” becoming increasingly nuanced.
While McDermott Will & Emery and Hughes Hubbard & Reed have said their starting salary increases to $180,000 in other U.S. cities will apply to their Miami offices, other large firms have not gone quite as far, moving up to the high of $155,000 previously set by White & Case. Yet still, other Florida firms are sitting tight.
