A new law set to take effect July 1 will help executors gain access to electronic files for stock trading records, emails, shopping histories, text messages, online banking relationships, travel memberships, smartphone data and other information to administer accounts for dead or debilitated owners.
Florida’s Fiduciary Access to Digital Assets Act allows telecommunications companies and others businesses that store electronic files to disclose content to authorized assignees without a court order.
