A Miami-Dade judge should not have increased a $5,000 jury award for a man who healed unusually well from a broken neck, an appellate court ruled Wednesday.

A Third District Court of Appeal panel applied the flip side of the “eggshell skull” rule, a personal injury doctrine that saysdamages can be increased for someone with a delicate skull who dies from a blow to the head that might have only bruised someone else.
