The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit has affirmed a Miami federal judge’s dismissal of a lawsuit filed by the Miccosukee tribe against its former lawyers.

In an opinion issued Tuesday, the court decided the lawsuit accusing Miami attorneys Guy Lewis, Michael Tein and Dexter Lehtinen of conspiring to engage in a racketeering kickback scheme was not supported by the facts. U.S. District Judge Marcia Cooke in Miami imposed sanctions of more than $1 million on the tribe and its attorney Bernardo Roman III.
