The Third District Court of Appeal gave a North Miami lawyer a slap on the wrist Wednesday for failing to properly pursue an appeal, apparently because his clients couldn’t pay for his services.
Derek Lewis filed an appeal of a $2.8 million judgment against his client, Club Lexx in Miami, in September 2014. The jury found the club negligently failed to prevent an exotic dancer from drinking on the job. The dancer drove drunk one night, hitting another car and severely injuring its driver.
