So sad that the DBR let their paper be used to print this type of story. Even more sad that they didn’t do their homework and mention that Christine Rodriguez is actually Christine Siple Rodriguez. She is Iris Siple’s daughter. Who has the biggest bone to pick with the new clerk? No wonder people lose faith in the media.

She‘ll be investigated for harassing employees too, and possibly violating federal law. It‘s not a secret that she fired the former Chief Administrator who was out on FMLA. She also uses her race and religion to intimidate staff, as well as deciding on promotions. Being black and an extremely religious Christian were two of her focal points when she swore-in the Clerks upon taking office.

Points to consider: The Florida Bar panel that considers admissions to the bar does not general consider foreclosures and potentially misleading use of old names, etc. as indicia of the best ethics, and have held up admission of applicants because of foreclosures and use of alternate names. This is not business as usual and may support a doubt that she is able to handle affairs at the right level. Also please note that Orange County Clerk of Court is a minority who has held the job successfully for years!

Not sure what to think based on this article. It appears that most of the criticisms directed at the Clerk here are that, in some people‘s opinions, she is either unqualified or unpleasant. That is likely thought by some people of every elected official. The only alleged actions that would seem actionable were dismissed by the Ethics Commission as lacking "any factual" validity. So there doesn‘t seem to be enough in this article at least to justify negating the voters‘ decision, does there? This seems a gossipy article.
