Miami developers Michael and David Adler have moved to strike a complaint accusing them of withholding millions in licensing fees and royalties from a foreign partner.

The defendants head the Adler Group, a real estate development and investment firm with a construction arm. But a lawsuit against another Adler affiliate, Kabel-X USA LLC, shows the real estate executives are embroiled in a dispute over patent rights for technology with alleged big-dollar implications for the construction sector. The technology removes the copper core from coaxial cables to allow conversion to fiber optics. It allows construction companies to replace older cables without digging trenches or disrupting the existing infrastructure.
