A woman injured in a fall on a sidewalk at a condominium complex received a $1.4 million settlement.

On May 3, 2013, Amelia Cortes, then in her 40s, was walking after it rained when she slipped on a wet section of sidewalk. She fractured her right wrist, aggravated a prior knee injury, and herniated her cervical and lumbar discs. Cortes claimed the owner of the complex, New Hampton at Century Village Condominium #1 Association Inc., and the property manager, Progressive Community Management Inc., improperly repaired the sidewalk with smooth concrete, which created a slipping hazard.
