TeleSUR, a global television network supported by six left-of-center Latin American countries, is being sued for defamation by a Miami woman who says the network aired a fake documentary that called her a CIA agent who was out to destabilize democracy in Ecuador.

The complaint, filed Friday, states that in June, TeleSUR companies broadcast “La CIA en Ecuador,” a documentary that claims the CIA recruited Karen Hollihan to be part of a “dark, clandestine, force that intends to destroy democracy” and “when she was put in charge of the mission,” Hollihan organized a “network of agents in charge of attacking democracy in Ecuador.” The program was broadcast throughout Latin America and the U.S. and is still available on YouTube, the complaint states.
