Every responsible attorney will warn his or her client before filing a lawsuit in state court that resolution could take a long, long time. Overtaxed judges are pushing back their calendars on even the most urgent of claims. There is a quicker alternative that affords the same benefits as a courthouse contest without the delays: a private judge.

State statistics show that lawsuits involving real property, contracts and indebtedness accounted for 71 percent of the 32,145 lawsuits filed in the Miami-Dade Circuit in the 12 months ending last June. They made up 64 percent of disputes in the Broward Circuit and 63 percent in the Palm Beach Circuit during that same time period.
