When Deborah Mullin met Robert Bertisch in 1987, she was embarking on a career in advertising at the Daily Business Review and he was at the helm of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County, then a tiny nonprofit working on behalf of disadvantaged children, families and seniors.

They would grow into fixtures in the South Florida legal community, where Mullin rubbed shoulders with chief judges, voluntary bar association chiefs and leaders of other industry groups as the DBR worked to become the region’s official court newspaper.
