A former chairwoman of Miami’s zoning board has been convicted of felony grand theft and placed on probation.

Janice Ivan Tarbert, who chaired the city Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board from 2012 until her abrupt resignation in May, was sentenced Monday to two years of supervised release, 20 years of probation and 1,000 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a single count of theft. The felony conviction, which carried a maximum possible penalty of 30 years in prison, disqualified Tarbert from holding public office.
