Chief Broward Circuit Judge Peter Weinstein, who is in charge of a circuit where three judges have been arrested on charges of driving under the influence in recent months, offered assurances to the public Monday about judicial accountability.
Speaking on behalf of the 90 judges and 13 magistrates in Broward Circuit Court, Weinstein said, “The appropriate processes are under way to address the alleged criminal violations, and it would be inappropriate for me to comment further except to emphasize that the chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court has appointed judges from outside of Broward County to preside over two of these cases, and the third will be addressed in Palm Beach County where the alleged offense occurred.”
