Real estate special interest groups and lobbyists are paying close attention to bills that would cut taxes on commercial leases. With the legislative sessions opening today, industry groups say their top priority is supporting two bills they say would boost commercial property values and save businesses about $235 million annually.
Florida is the only state that collects sales tax on commercial rent, levying a 6 percent fee that generates $1.2 billion in annual revenue.
