Former 3rd DCA Judge Ramirez Joins Diaz Reus & Targ
Nearly a year after leaving the Third District Court of Appeal to take a job with mediation firm JAMS, Judge Juan Ramirez Jr. is on the move again.
Ramirez has joined Miami-based law firm Diaz Reus & Targ as a partner, where he will focus on litigation and international arbitration.
Ramirez started as a judge in 1988 in Miami-Dade County Court, then moved to circuit court in 1990. He served as administrative judge of the appellate division there before being elevated by Gov. Jeb Bush in 2000 to the Third District Court of Appeal, where he served as chief judge from 2009 to 2011. He retired to join JAMS in 2012, when JAMS opened its Miami office.
Ramirez is one of a string of judges in the last few years to leave the bench to become a mediator. Others include Scott Silverman, Ellen Leesfield, Victoria Platzer, Lester Langer and Alex Ferrer.
Diaz Reus has offices in Miami, New York, China, Venezuela, Dubai, Iraq, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina.
