Greenberg Attorneys Worked Purchase Of Apparel Maker Gerber
Greenberg Traurig attorneys advised Rhode Island-based Providence Apparel Inc. on its purchase of apparel maker Gerber Childrenswear LLC from Boca Raton-based private investment firm Sun Capital Partners Inc.
Terms of the deal, which closed last week, were not disclosed.
Providence was represented by a team of Greenberg Traurig attorneys including Miami shareholders David Barkus, Ozzie A. Schindler and Aaron T. Slavens.
For Providence, the acquisition represents an opportunity to expand its retail product line. Gerber Childrenswear distributes infant and children's apparel and related products under its flagship Gerber brand and the Onesies brand. Both brands are primarily distributed in mass-market and national retail chains.
The company also markets infant and children's apparel in department and specialty stores under licensed brands including Jockey for Kids, Lamaze and the National Football League.
Apparel was represented by investment banks Marketing Management Group and Capital Financial Advisors. Sun Capital was represented by investment bank Oppenheimer and law firm Kirkland & Ellis.
