State Economic Opportunity Secretary Hunting Deutsch announced Tuesday that he will resign following questions about his own drawing of unemployment compensation and whether he needed it.
Deutsch reportedly received more than $25,0000 in jobless benefits from 2009 to 2011 after being laid off in a corporate merger, even though he owned two homes worth more than $1.1 million and traveled often to Europe during that period of “unemployment.” Deutsch also told The Florida Current he didn’t need to work during that time.
