Assistant Public Defender Patrick Hunt has prevailed over four other candidates to be chosen as federal magistrate for South Florida, according to sources familiar with the selection process.
Chief U.S. District Judge Federico Moreno said he could neither confirm nor deny Hunt has been picked. Hunt must still undergo an FBI background check.
