Since Bacardi USA Inc. relocated its headquarters to Coral Gables, chairman Facundo Bacardi had been inundated with calls from developers and non-profit organizations about acquiring the company’s iconic former home base in Miami.

On Wednesday, the company announced what many in the community believe to be the preferred result: The sale of the Bacardi Tower and Museum complex at 2100 Biscayne Boulevard to the nonprofit National YoungArts Foundation. The price was a reported $10 million, about half of the market value.
